Erin Auster, LICSW

No one told you adulting would be this hard….

I mean you knew it wouldn’t be easy, but you’ve overcome hard things in the past with a little extra effort and managed just fine.

But now what worked before is no longer working. You feel overwhelmed and desperate; it’s like everyone else has it figured out but you.

As we progress through life, our problems also grow and it can feel suddenly as if we aren’t equipped to deal with them.

Everything. Feels. So. High. Stakes.

Well, you are in the right place. Welcome!

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER

Hi, I’m Erin.

You deserve a space to put yourself first. Therapy can be this space. Going through the motions of living a life is not the same as actually living.

Making time for yourself in therapy is a much needed pause in the daily grind, particularly if you find yourself always trying to take action in an effort to “fix” whatever you have been struggling with.

Together we will reflect on and understand what is and is not working. What is driving your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors? How can you build resilience and have more self compassion? There will be practical skill-building and developing new coping skills. Therapy is a great way to invest in yourself and you are worth it.

My Approach

As a licensed clinical social worker, I use a strengths-based perspective and rely heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy frameworks. This means we'll identify the strengths you have inherently, and lean into those as you work toward achieving your desired goals while also learning to accept what we cannot control and reframing how we think about things.

I offer a warm and curious approach while creating a nonjudgmental space where you can show up just as you are - with all of your quirks, imperfections, and sometimes irrational thoughts. You can expect my active presence: listening, empathizing, and challenging you (I promise I will do so gently and with some humor). I am committed to holding you accountable and working together as a team to get you back into living the life you want.

Outside of the Therapy Room

I am New England born and raised although every winter I question why I don’t live somewhere warmer! I have two sons and a sweet rescue pup named Winnie.

I consider myself a donut connoisseur, love a good true crime podcast, and enjoy traveling to new places with my husband. (Favorite place so far is Sicily!)
